VOICE has a variety of meetings, conversations and training opportunities. This calendar will primarily contain information on larger public actions, events and fundraisers. If you are interested in a meetings at your local institution or training opportunities, please contact an organizer or one of the core leaders at your institution.
In this leadership retreat, you will look deeply at the mission of the church through the lens of the sacraments of baptism and the eucharist. Do the sacraments have something to say about how we are to treat one another, or how we are to respond to the poor? How do these teachings come alive for us as we relate to one another during this time when we are "church" without our buildings? In this difficult time, when so many are feeling isolated and cut off from one another, you'll learn the skills you need to build a more responsive community: listening to the stories of families, learning how to organize ourselves to speak out on the needs of our families.
The two-day training will take place on Zoom. The first session will be on Friday, Nov. 6, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., focusing on Paul's letter to the Corinthians and his vision of church and the practice of the eucharist. The sessions on Saturday, Nov. 7, will be 9 - 10:15 a.m. (Baptism), 10:30 - noon, 1:30 - 3, and 3:15 - 4. The sessions will build on each other, so please make every effort to attend all sessions.
